Help your newcomer clients find money they may have missed.
Canada Tax Planner is a free tool that checks past tax years for credits and benefits your newcomer clients may not have claimed. It is available in 9 languages, and the client prints and mails any adjustment request themselves.
What the tool does
Finds credits clients may have missed
A short guided scan checks the past 3 tax years for federal credits and benefits that are often missed, such as the Canada Child Benefit, the GST/HST credit, the Canada caregiver credit and the northern residents deductions. Results are explained in plain language.
9 languages
The site is available in English, French, Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Punjabi, Ukrainian, Russian, and Filipino, so clients can read their results in their own language.
Print and mail, no e-filing
For high-confidence findings, a signed-in client can generate a T1-ADJ cover letter and mail it to CRA with the T1-ADJ form. The client files the request themselves and stays the taxpayer of record; no NETFILE or representative access is needed.
Nothing to install
A regular link to the recovery scan is all it takes. Co-branded pages and usage reports are not available yet; tell us if your agency needs them.
How it works for your clients
You add a link to the recovery scan on your newcomer information page, intake package or after-arrival checklist.
The client opens the scan in their language and answers questions in four short steps: about them, income and work, life details and past filings.
They see ranked findings: estimated amounts for high-confidence credits, ranges for medium-confidence ones, and lower-confidence items flagged for review with a tax professional.
For high-confidence findings, a signed-in client can generate a T1-ADJ cover letter and mail it to CRA themselves, without your agency having to step in.

Common questions
What does it cost our agency?
Linking to the scan costs nothing, and the scan is free for clients. During the current beta, every signed-in user can also generate T1-ADJ cover letters at no charge. Any partnership terms beyond that are discussed directly with each agency.
How is client privacy protected?
Calculator inputs stay in the client’s browser unless they create an account to sync them. To generate a cover letter, the findings are sent to our server to build the PDF. We never ask for a SIN: the SIN field on the printed letter is left blank for the client to fill in by hand. See our privacy policy for details.
Are you a tax preparer?
No. Canada Tax Planner is software that points out credits a client may have missed. The client is always the taxpayer of record. Every result carries a disclaimer, and lower-confidence findings are marked for review by a tax professional before anything is filed.
How long does it take to set up?
Adding a link takes a few minutes. There is nothing to install and no IT work on your side.
What results should clients expect?
It depends on each client’s situation, so we don’t quote an average. Findings are estimates, CRA decides on every adjustment request, and processing times are outside our control.
